Zebra Shark Pups

Watch our newly hatched zebra shark pups as they begin to explore the world. You will notice that occasionally we will add elements to the habitat. Those elements will provide some shelter for the animals, but will also give you a sense of scale to help you reference the size of the animals. These elements are approximately 12 inches (30.5 cm) long and 5 inches (12.7 cm) wide.

You will notice the distinct dark coloration with pale stripes of the pups, lending to the name, “zebra shark.” As they mature, their coloration changes to tan with dark spots.

We have another zebra shark egg on a webcam for you to watch as it gets closer to joining these pups. Please take a look at the video of the previous pup being born on our YouTube channel.  We also have several unhatched, live egg cases on exhibit in our Ocean Voyager gallery for you to see when you visit Georgia Aquarium in person!
For more information on zebra sharks, please refer to our Animal Guide.

This webcam is available from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.  EST.
