Sponsored Education Admissions (SEA)
Georgia Aquarium recognizes that not everyone has the resources to experience the Aquarium. To meet the needs of those who are unable to visit under normal circumstances, the Aquarium is proud to offer Sponsored Education Admissions (SEA) and Fish Wish, which provide free or discounted admission to certain groups and individuals who would not otherwise be able to. It is imperative to the Aquarium to not only contribute to Atlanta economically, but that it is also a community neighbor, with financial support from many individuals, corporations and foundations. These programs allow the Aquarium to accomplish Bernie Marcus’ goal of ensuring that all persons in Georgia have access to the Aquarium.
SEA Program
Georgia Aquarium’s Sponsored Education Admissions (SEA) program provides free or discounted admission to Title 1 schools (K-12) and nonprofit groups who would not otherwise be able to experience its marvel. The Aquarium provides an exciting educational experience for students in grades K-12. Through a $10 donation, a child without the resources could be inspired to be a marine biologist or for $250 an entire classroom of children can visit the Aquarium on a Georgia Performance Standard field trip. The SEA program helps to ensure that diverse audiences, regardless of their economic status, have an opportunity to participate in these educational experiences.
Fish Wish
Fish Wish serves children from Children’s Health Care of Atlanta as well as injured veterans from The Shepherd’s Center. This program was created by Georgia Aquarium to fulfill the wishes of children with life-changing illnesses and create family bonding experiences at Georgia Aquarium. Fish Wish recently expanded to assist veterans with their recovery through outreach therapy. For every $50 donated, a child or veteran’s wish can be fulfilled to spend time with their family and forget their medical problems. Annually, the Aquarium donates approximately 250 sponsored admission tickets to patients and families at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
