Natal Sharks Board

Nandi was caught in nets used to trap sharks off the coast of South Africa. When you talk to people, you can tell most are internally conflicted in South Africa about the shark nets as the nets protect people’s lives from shark attacks, but they kill sharks and other marine animals. The Natal Sharks board is doing the best they can with a difficult situation, including patrolling the nets and freeing healthy animals daily as well as giving ones that need care to uShaka, which was Nandi’s case. They also perform public dissections of the sharks that don’t survive. It’s very educational, but probably a little gruesome for an American audience.
