Whale Sharks Arrive

As part of its continuing efforts to promote aquatic wildlife conservation, the Georgia Aquarium welcomed two new whale sharks to the Ocean Voyager exhibit, a 6.3 million gallon habitat. The whale sharks were given Taiwanese names of Yushan (U-Seeyan) and Taroko to help honor the origin of these gentle giants. Yushan, which means Jade Mountain, is the name of the tallest peak in Asia outside of the Himalayas, and Taroko is the name of a Taiwanese national park and gorge.

Fish & Chips Success

The Georgia Aquarium’s Second Annual Fish & Chips Golf Tournament presented by Arby’s, Federated Insurance, PGA TOUR Superstore and the Marcus Foundation was held on Monday, May 7, at the Atlanta Country Club. This year’s event was co-chaired by Billi Marcus and Dennis Cooper of Cooper-Atlanta Transportation Services. Along with a day of golf, sponsors and guests enjoyed a pre-tournament dinner and auction at the Aquarium on Sunday night. We raised $145,000 benefiting the Georgia Aquarium’s Endowment Fund.

Thank you to all of our 2007 sponsors!
