Albert A.George, III
Director of Education
In the position of Director of Education, Albert George is responsible for the development of the educational experience for students and teachers who participate in educational programming at the Georgia Aquarium. This experience includes the development of exhibits, curriculum, program themes and teacher training. George also serves as a liaison between the Georgia Aquarium and all educational institutions.
As a doctoral student, George knows first-hand the makings of an effective educational program. He has been active in the academic community since earning his two Bachelor of Science degrees in marine biology and chemistry from Savannah State University in 1995. Since then, he has participated in an NIH fellowship at Yale University, completed courses at the MIT Sloan School of Business and attended the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
While studying at Yale in 1996, George founded the Life-Star Youth Empowerment Organization, a group dedicated to assisting economically-challenged youth. In 1998, he joined the center for Marine, Environmental Science and Biotechnology in Savannah, Ga., where he helped develop new strategies to improve math and science performance in grades K-12 in the state of Georgia.
George served as a consultant to the Partners for Livable Communities in Palo Alto, Calif., from 1999 to 2001. His accomplishments include developing successful strategies to strengthen youth development in the art disciplines in the United States and abroad.
After finishing the Kennedy School in 2001, he began as Director of the Packard Scholar Program and Division Administrator at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Ga. As director, George was responsible for The Packard Scholar Program’s $1.1 million initiative analyzing how education policies affect African-American men pursuing research careers.
In 2002, George co-founded Building Block Group & Associates, L.P., where he acted as managing partner. The Building Block Group is a consulting service aimed at helping minority owned businesses, non-profits and public sector clients develop strategic business plans.
George worked for Booz Allen Hamilton as management consultant in the Organizational Change Team and the Strategic Planning Team from 2003 to 2006. Booz Allen Hamilton provides a broad range of management consulting, engineering, information technology and systems development services for public and private sector agencies and organizations. In 2008, George received the high honor of being inducted into the 100 Black Men Association.
