As Senior Vice President of Finance, CFO and CAO, Anthony Godfrey is responsible for managing Georgia Aquarium’s finance and accounting department, as well as the human resource department, which includes both employees and volunteers of Georgia Aquarium. Godfrey also oversees the visitor services, guest programs and information technology departments, safety and security department and third party vendors.
Godfrey graduated from the University of South Carolina in Columbia where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in accounting. After graduation he relocated to Atlanta and worked for several high-tech companies such as VSI Enterprises, Inc., a videoconferencing software developer and manufacturing company. He served as controller and later as chief financial officer for more than nine years. Godfrey also served as corporate controller of Intown Suites, one of the nation’s largest extended stay hotel firms, for more than six years.
Godfrey joined the Georgia Aquarium team in early 2005 and has since taken on a variety of tasks, including managing the Aquarium’s budget and working with partnering companies. Godfrey is a member of the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Accounting Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Godfrey lives in Cumming, Georgia, with his wife, Lisa, and their two daughters, Lindsey and Ansley.
