Georgia Aquarium Mascot Celebrates Second Birthday
Atlanta mascots celebrate Deepo’s birthday with festivities
Atlanta (August 8, 2007) – Mascots and children from around Atlanta helped Deepo, the Georgia Aquarium mascot, celebrate his second birthday on Aug. 8, 2007, at the Georgia Aquarium. Deepo and the mascots paraded to the Oceans Ballroom before going head-to-head in games and a dance-off, while children participated in games and activities such as face painting, arts and crafts and ocean bingo. A Polynesian dance troupe and a delicious birthday treat added more excitement to the birthday party. To help Deepo celebrate his birthday, several local mascots, including Zhu-Zhu (Zoo Atlanta’s Panda), The Coca-Cola Polar Bear, Captain Planet, Freddie Falcon (Atlanta Falcons), Buzz (Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket), Pounce (Georgia State Panther), the Chick-fil-A “Eat Mor Chikin” Cow and the AirTran Plane, joined in on the fun and activities. As part of the celebration, Deepo invited children in third through eighth grades to write his birth story. Amber Stevens, 14, wrote the winning story and was invited, along with 10 of her friends, to be the guests of honor at Deepo’s birthday celebration. The group also received a special behind-the-scenes tour. 100 children from The School Kid’s Club, Giving Back Foundation Inc. and Greater Vine City Opportunities also attended through sponsored admission tickets to join in the celebration.
