The 2009 International Sirenian Conservation Conference


The Georgia Aquarium in collaboration with the Harbor Branch Marine Mammal Research and Conservation Program are pleased to announce The 2009 International Sirenian Conservation Conference.

Location: The Georgia Aquarium, Atlanta, Georgia
Date: March 23-24, 2009
Hosts/Sponsor: The Georgia Aquarium and the Marine Mammal Research and Conservation Program, Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute at Florida Atlantic University
Registration Fee: $100; includes T-shirt and proceedings

Highlights include:
- Current Field and Laboratory Research, Management Perspectives and Veterinary Aspects of Rehabilitation and Release
- Two student travel awards
- Open to anyone interested in the biology, management and medicine of sirenians

This two-day international conference will combine a variety of invited and selected speakers to share a broad spectrum of manatee and dugong conservation issues from a global perspective. The conference will be comprised of three moderated sessions: Current Field and Laboratory Research, Management Perspectives and Veterinary Aspects of Rehabilitation and Release. Additionally, two student travel awards will be awarded to encourage and expose young researchers to a wide variety of sirenian experts. This conference will be open to anyone interested in the biology, management and medicine of sirenians. The proceedings will be published as a joint technical report.
