The 4R Program is designed to make a positive difference in the health and well-being of aquatic life from around the world. Rehabilitation, Responsibility, Rescue and Research are the four areas of focus for this program. This program will be funded in large part by individual contributions and will support our efforts in these four areas. We have several current 4R initiatives including beluga whales, sea turtles, sea otters and more.
Rehabilitation. Our animal health facilities will be used to rehabilitate injured aquatic animals. Our world-class animal health professionals will play an active role in animal assessment, medical treatment and rehabilitation.
Responsibility: Georgia Aquarium strives to be a global steward, representing responsible choices which we exercise through recycling and conservation efforts.
Rescue. Through our rescue program, the Georgia Aquarium will work to save injured or endangered animals from the wild or from captive environments. With decades of combined experience, our veterinary services and husbandry staff will provide vital care and a safe environment where each unique creature can thrive.
Research. From ocean exploration to aquaculture, from infectious diseases to marine ecology, the Georgia Aquarium is deeply involved in furthering scientific knowledge of aquatic life. Working in state-of-the-art research facilities, our team collaborates with researchers around the world to study, analyze and make discoveries. The goal: to increase our understanding of aquatic ecosystems and conserve aquatic biodiversity.
How Can You Help?
You can help us achieve one of our major goals, to be a leading facility for aquatic animal conservation and research, by participating in our new 4R Program. 4R is designed to give you the unique opportunity to make a positive difference in the health and well-being of aquatic life from around the world. Your support will allow us to fulfill our mission in real and meaningful ways.
Make a real difference in the lives of aquatic animals and our aquatic environment by supporting the Georgia Aquarium 4R Program. Donations from friends like you gives us the ability to lead the way in rehabilitation, relocation, rescue and research. The 4R program is an easy way for you to support each of these critical activities.
There are a variety of donation recognition levels that begin at $10. Your gift is tax-deductible. Various benefits begin at the $50 level. For example, the $250 Ambassador level includes your name listed on our 4Rs donor recognition wall, a certificate for a Behind the Scenes Tour for up to four guests, an invitation for two people to our quarterly "Breakfast with the Biologist" event and a 4R program logo item to thank you for supporting our efforts.
