ALERT: After careful consideration, we have made the decision to close Georgia Aquarium to public guests. We continue to closely monitor this ever-evolving situation around COVID-19 with the ongoing commitment to the health and wellbeing of our guests, staff, volunteers and animals.

The Public Relations department features projects that span across broadcast, print, media management and social media disciplines, interns have the dynamic opportunity to gain real-world, PR experience. Interns are responsible for media research, writing press releases, pitches, event blurbs and re-caps, contributing to social media content and analysis, and facilitating video productions for PR use. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting in coordinating photo and film shoots, media interviews and site visits; working in multiple databases to keep information current; attending Aquarium events for social media coverage; and actively participating in staff meetings and events. An additional aspect of the Public Relations internship is an opportunity to film and edit videos for public relations use. This includes but is not limited to: staff interviews, animal encounters, “magic moments” at the Aquarium, and many more. Interns will also facilitate fact-checking, research, proofread, and implement appropriate edits for ongoing video projects. At the conclusion of the internship, interns will understand the fundamentals of the public relations industry, social media, visual communications content, and the communications field as a whole. Throughout the internship, interns will learn how to conduct themselves professionally in the workplace, on social media channels, with agencies and partners, and with members of the media. They will also have a basic understanding of the zoological community.
