Right Whales in Georgia
Did you know that the right whale is Georgia’s state mammal? These large baleen whales breed every year in the warm waters of the South Atlantic Bight, which includes the Georgia coast. The Aquarium has partnered with scientists from Woods Hole to monitor right whale populations in our state.
With only 300-400 northern right whales in existence we could very well witness this magnificent species become extinct in our lifetime and your support will be critical to their survival. Today you can make a direct impact toward the future of these magnificent animals by assisting Georgia Aquarium in educating 2.2 million global visitors annually on the struggles northern right whales face for survival. By making a gift you will help us reach and sustain our research and conservation goals.
