SunTrust Georgia Explorer

Flash Slideshow

The SunTrust Georgia Explorer gallery is a highly interactive gallery with touch pools full of horseshoe crabs, sea stars, stingrays and shrimp. Several large habitats feature a loggerhead sea turtle and the fish of Gray's Reef — an underwater area off the Georgia coast designated a National Marine Sanctuary. Whales live right off the Georgia coast! This gallery will connect you with right whales, which are one of the most endangered mammals on the planet.

NEW! Deepo's Chat Room
Have a conversation with the star of Georgia Aquarium's Undersea 3D Wondershow, Deepo! Deepo is the Aquarium's original mascot and now you can get to know him like never before. Located in the SunTrust Georgia Explorer Gallery, the interactive exhibit gives you the opportunity to chat with Deepo in real time. Ask all the questions you want and come prepared to laugh and learn about conservation and the Georgia Aquarium from the fish who knows it best, Deepo! Deepo's Chat Room is fun for all ages, and there are three 12-minute shows that occur daily. Be sure to check the schedule at the Information Desk when you arrive at the Aquarium. Deepo is excited to chat with you and the kids!

Alien Invaders Have Arrived!

Venomous lionfish from the Pacific Ocean have invaded the Georgia coast. Like kudzu, these fish don't belong here, and they are changing our ocean ecosystem.

After working with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), we have brought some of these alien fish to Georgia Aquarium. Read more about these curious creatures. And don't forget to check out the new touchpools, located near the lionfish exhibit.

Rehabilitating Loggerhead Sea Turtles
Through Georgia Aquarium's 4R Program, we are able to rehabilitate and release loggerhead sea turtles back into their natural habitats. Click here to learn more about these turtles' stories and see videos and photos of their release!
