Sea Otter Encounter Interaction

Georgia Aquarium Launches New Sea Otter Encounter

Aquarium offers guests more up-close and personal animal interactions

ATLANTA (May 13, 2013) – Georgia Aquarium is giving guests another opportunity to take a dip behind the scenes and closely explore aquatic life with the launch of its newest interactive program, Sea Otter Encounter. This unique program, which launches May 20, grants the rare, up-close experience of encountering Southern sea otters at their home in the Georgia-Pacific Cold Water Quest gallery.

“Our Sea Otter Encounter is an amazing program we are nothing less than excited to share with guests beginning this summer,” said David Kimmel, Georgia Aquarium president and COO. “Through inspiring experiences like this encounter, we are able to teach the public about Georgia Aquarium's rescue, research and conservation initiatives.”

The Sea Otter Encounter is designed as a special educational experience where guests will not only interact with the energetic and playful creatures, but they will also learn about Georgia Aquarium’s 4R Program, which includes providing much-needed homes for orphaned and stranded sea otters.

Over the course of 40 minutes, guests will enjoy an exclusive tour of the sea otter environment; have the privilege of preparing a sea otter meal; and finally, participate in an exciting sea otter training session alongside Georgia Aquarium’s own animal trainers. Additionally, program participants will receive a souvenir photo of their experience, courtesy of the Aquarium.

Sessions are available daily; and the cost of the program is $54.95 plus tax. This price does not include Total Ticket general admission to the Aquarium or to the AT&T Dolphin Tales show. Program participants must be at least 7-years old. In the absence of a participating parent, participants under 18 years of age are required to have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian.

This program joins the Aquarium’s four other animal interaction experiences, which include the Beluga & Friends Interactive, Dolphin Encounter; and Journey with the Gentle Giants – swim or dive- Programs.
