Patrick Starnes, Vice President, Projects & Construction Services

Vice President of projects and construction services, Patrick Starnes is responsible for managing Georgia Aquarium exhibit construction projects.

With more than 35 years of experience in construction, project management and operations. Starnes has worked in public, private and government sectors providing project and construction management and facilities support. His areas of expertise include new construction, renovations, preventive maintenance, repair and installation of new equipment, systems, and operations.

Prior to Georgia Aquarium, Starnes worked for Duke Energy, the state of Georgia, Heery International and JLL, formerly Jones Lang LaSalle. Notable projects Starnes has worked on include a 184-bed critical care unit, three-story condominiums and 24-bed assisted living facility for The Methodist Homes, two 30-story high-rise buildings in downtown Birmingham, Ala. for Regions Bank, the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Brunswick, Ga, which was named The Paul Coverdale Training Center and dedicated by President George Bush. Patrick was a multi-site project manager across the United States for clients like Family Dollar, Sunbelt Rentals and BI-LO Supermarkets.

Starnes is a certified American with Disabilities Accessibility Design surveyor, as well as Civil Inspector II, Structure Steel Inspector II, Mechanical Inspector II, Electrical Inspector II, In-Service Inspector II, Concrete Inspector II and Occupational Safety and Health Administration 10.

Previously, Starnes was a project manager and owner representative for various Georgia Aquarium projects, including the AT&T Dolphin Tales gallery, Georgia Pacific Cold Water Quest renovations, and back of house animal holding and quarantine areas.

Starnes attended Limestone College, Spartanburg Technical College and York Technical College. Starnes and his wife, Jelly, have two daughters, Sarah and Brooke.
