About the Program

‎Each 45-minute lesson takes place at Georgia Aquarium, hosted by environmental educators who know how to make science unforgettable. Students will roll up their sleeves and dive into the world of marine science through hands-on, interactive experiences, from animal dissections to fossil digs and beyond. Aligned with both State and National Education Standards, these classroom programs deliver grade-appropriate, inquiry-based learning that sparks curiosity, encourages critical thinking, and deepens scientific understanding.     Fossil Friends

    What can ancient fossils tell us about the incredible creatures that once ruled our oceans? How do these time-traveling treasures help scientists piece together Earth’s prehistoric past? Travel to the past and explore real marine fossils, from ancient fish to trilobites and even prehistoric sharks. We will learn how fossils are made, and even try our hand at digging up our own! Uncover how these natural clues become powerful tools for unraveling the mysteries of marine life through the ages.

    Features and Creatures

    It’s a boat, it’s a fish, it’s a… robot?! Remote Operated Vehicles (ROVs) can help us explore dangerous or hard-to-reach parts of the world to learn all about the creatures and features found underwater. From hydrothermal vents to mountain ranges and even deep-sea trenches, scientists have been using technology to help explore all kinds of unique ocean features. Hack into the world of coding to design your robot’s path through ecosystems all around the world – you never know what amazing place you’ll discover next! Come explore the ocean and see if you have what it takes to complete the mission.

One ocean denizen has an extremely bizarre body: the squid! With their many arms and tentacles, beaked mouths, and jet propulsion method of swimming, squids are strange animals. Join us as we uncover the mysteries of how these sensational cephalopods are able to swim, breathe, and eat by taking an up-close look at the insides of these remarkable animals.
